Product Description

Red Roselle (Hibiscus Sabdariffa) 50+ Rare Heirloom Seeds

In the Garden: Plant seeds a half inch below surface and keep warm and moist for the first few weeks. Plants are quick to germinate but be careful to not over water. Keep in a well lit, warm area and feed once a month.

Herbal Use: A red dye is used from the calyces, and a cranberry like jelly can be made that already contains 3% pectin. Makes an excellent red, cranberry flavored tea than can be sweetened and is delicious. I boil a few cups of water in a pan and just after it starts bubbling I shut the heat off and throw in a handful of just picked Roselle. The fleshy outer part is what I use after removing the inside seed pod. I let this mixture sit on the hot stove for 5-10 minutes until the calyx are nearly transparent. After the liquid has cooled below scalding, I add (I like it sweet!) 100% pure natural, unfiltered and uncooked local honey and stir.We drink this warm as a healing tea at the end of the day but it can be served cold with ice as well. The calyx are all very soft now and when sweetened a little with honey make an excellent treat!
