Tough on Weeds

Get tough on weeds while going easy on your lawn with the Spectracide Weed Stop for Lawns Concentrate. Spectracide Weed Stop is a selective herbicide formulated to target more than 200 tough weed types down to the root, including dandelion, chickweed, and clover, without harming lawn grasses. It's also easy to mix and apply using a sprayer, and there's no need to wait before overseeding.

Application Recommendations

Use in spring, when weeds are small and growing; or in fall, when problem weeds are germinating, to eliminate many weeds the following year. Mix 1 fluid ounce (2 tablespoons) of Weed Stop in 1 gallon of water (see product container for sprayer-specific mixing ratios). Wet each weed completely.

For best results, mow the lawn before treating weeds and avoid watering for six hours after treatment. Rainfall or watering within six hours of spraying might result in poor weed control. Keep the spray off of vegetables, ornamental plants, the roots of trees and ornamentals, and clover. Use when daytime temperatures are cooler than 85 degrees F or lawn injury can occur. Spectracide Weed Stop for Lawns Concentrate is not intended for use on the Floratam variety of St. Augustine grass in Florida.

If tough weeds are not dead within three weeks, repeat with spot treatment.

Treating and Overseeding

Wait three weeks between applying Spectracide Weed Stop for Lawns Concentrate and seeding. If you're treating a new lawn, however, spray within 24 hours after seeding. Remove pets while treating the lawn; they can walk on the grass again as soon as the spray has dried completely. In general, you should mow before applying Spectracide Weed Stop for Lawns Concentrate. However, there are no restrictions on mowing after treatment, although you should wait until the treated area is completely dry.

One container treats up to 16,000 square feet.
